Set up passkeys on this device
A couple of settings make passkeys work for Motive 8. Turn them on, then go back and try again.
iPhone or iPad
- 1Make sure your device has a passcode, with Face ID or Touch ID if it has them.
- 2Turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys.Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords
- 3Turn on iCloud Keychain, so your passkey is on your other Apple devices too.Settings → your name → iCloud → Passwords
- 4Using 1Password instead? Turn it on in the same AutoFill & Passwords screen.
Tested on iPhone. iPad uses the same Apple Passwords, but hasn't been tested with Motive 8 yet.
Mac
- 1Turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys.System Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords
- 2Turn on iCloud Keychain, so your passkey is on your other Apple devices too.System Settings → your name → iCloud → Passwords
- 3Use Safari or Chrome. With 1Password, use its browser extension.
Mac hasn't been tested with Motive 8 yet. If your passkey can't protect your wallet, Motive 8 tells you when you make it — and nothing is lost.
Android phone or tablet
- 1Set a screen lock — a PIN, pattern, fingerprint or face.
- 2Choose Google as your passwords and passkeys service.Settings → Passwords, passkeys & accounts
- 3Use Chrome.
Windows PC
- 1Install the latest Windows updates — Windows Hello needs the February 2026 update to work with Motive 8.Settings → Windows Update
- 2Set up Windows Hello: a PIN, and face or fingerprint if your PC has them.Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options
- 3Or, in Chrome, save passkeys to Google Password Manager — make sure you're signed in to Chrome.
- 4Using 1Password? Install its browser extension in Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and use that rather than the Windows Security window. To stop Windows offering 1Password, turn it off here:Settings → Accounts → Passkeys → Advanced options
Menu names can differ a little between versions.
